Сompetition for young talented high-school science students, to participate in the 3rd Millennium Youth Camp in Helsinki, Finland, in summer 2012.
A group of 30 talented young people will be selected from online applications submitted from 19 October 2011 onwards through a two-stage selection process which will end in the middle of March 2012. Arranged on an annual basis, the MYC welcomes students from all continents: in 2011, almost 1500 young people from a hundred different countries applied to take part.
The international science camp offers young people interested in mathematics, science and technology a chance to spend a week doing project work together and to meet top scientists, the 2012 Millennium Technology Prize winner, and people working in Finnish companies and organizations. One of the camp’s primary goals is to encourage young scientists to network at an early stage and help them launch a career in science or technology.
Professor Maija Aksela, member of the Finnish Academies and of the ALLEA Working Group Science Education which functions as the IAP Science Education Programme Regional Council, is chair of the MYC Steering Group.
